I have a 2010 S3 but am looking for an RS3.

I have seen a few in Red and going back a few years no one would touch a red car but they seem to be quite popular again now. I am not well up on RS3 Specs so what should I be looking for on the car.

I am not too worried about the bucket seats but what other options would be a must when looking for an RS3.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

These questions are always going to come down to personal preference. Surely, condition/price/mileage/colour etc would be the overriding factor?  I would go and view a few examples, take as long as you wish to sit in the cars/test drive them and play with all the functions until you decide what you like?

Some options examples:

Wider front wheels 8.5J

BOSE

Folding MIrrors

Bucket Seats

Privacy Glass

Electric Seats

Electric Lumbar

Load Through Facility

Roof Rails

Aluminium Styling / Or Optic Packs

Black Exhaust Tips

Cruise Control

Audi Exclusive Range Options - colours, trims

Heated Rear Seats

Wheel Colours

Interior Light Package

Garage Door Homelink

Light/Rain Sensor Pack

Adaptive Headlights

High Beam Assist......

Thanks for the info.
I do think the red ones stand out so I may be daring and go for red.

I had an S3 for 5 months or so before the RS. I had way more options on the S3 that I missed on the RS so some were retrofitted. Light and rain sensors are still missing on my RS and I really miss that. Cruise was retrofitted along with foot well lights. The options I have on mine are Bose, wider front wheels/tyres, privacy glass, black roof rails and black styling package plus the things I retrofitted.

Most if not all RS3's will likely be low mileage so its hard to say what to look out for mechanically, just the usuals I guess. Ask if the brakes have been in for replacement, it won't cost you if they haven't but it would be better if they have already been done. The part number on the front discs will have a B at the end if they have been done.

You will love the RS3 coming from the S3, it really is a much better car!

Been covered pretty well by Ryes and Pturner.

my thoughts,

Many RS3's wont be high milers.

Look at the condition of tyres/brakes as they are the things that will need replacing.

Service history should it have needed a service?

Has it had the various recalls done?  Ring Audi to confirm if it needs them.

Oh and red is a great colour but then i would say that:

Off topic but what roof bars have you got MacD and what is the ball park price on them. I'll need to do the same eventually for my bike as putting it in the boot means turning the car into a 2+0! I miss my RS4 Avant for it's boot space! :(

They are the Thule Wingbars

Really impressed with them as they are completely silent even up to 100mph with a bike on the roof..... yes i forgot for a few moments! :)

Worked out at £140 iirc for all the bits, My bike felt secure.

Were the brake discs a recall as Audi won't change them unless they squeak.

mine haven't been done yet, but from what i have been told they will only replace your brakes if you have raised the problem with your dealer and not just a blanket covering

They should replace them if they are squeaking or not. Its not a recall as such but is available to any RS3 owner.

Call Audi CS and say they are loud and not what you would expect.

I guess you'll have new discs, pads and calipers within two weeks...maybe a free service or oil drop for the whole inconvenience!?
