Not at mine just now but pretty sure that's the normal message.
It's just to warn you that if you deadlock your car it can't be opened from the inside.

Yeah I think Marshy is right... basically it warns you if you lock the car with someone inside they can't open the doors. Although I had a feeling it referred to it as Safelock rather than deadlock

I thought it meant you shouldn't lock your missus in the car when you pop in to a shop and she is too bone ass lazy to get out of the car.

To be honest I haven't noticed on the RS, probably as my Scirocco does the same and learned to ignore it!
On the VW if you press to lock the car once as normal, deadlocks applied so people in the car cannot get out. A second press of the lock releases the deadlocks but the car remains locked. No idea is the RS3 is the same....

Dunno. Next time I lock the wife in the car I will get her to try.

Tried this out and it says deadlock on dash. Remote lock button 1 press is deadlocks on. 2 press within 2 seconds is deadlocks off as standard. Can be changed IT WORKS!!! locked her in the car LOADS OF FUNNY!!! not sure she found this as amusing as me 😀 I got the LOOK!!!
