From new my car was treated to the Lifeshine process by the dealer meaning i was given the usual Lifeshine goodie bag.

Rather than ebay the lot as I have done in the past I decided i'd give the whole Autoglym range a whirl after many years away from it using 'boutique' waxes.

I've been impressed with Aqua-wax as a great way to shine the car when time is of the essence but I wanted to try the newer HD wax as I've seen mixed reviews.

Ordered the HD wax from Ultimate finish: http://www.theultima...nition-wax.aspx

Firstly it comes in at £39.99 which is I feel is fairly high when you look at what other waxes are available for the same money.

It arrived in its own fancy little box:

First job is the smell test... Would i eat it.... No!!!  it doesnt smell as nice as Poorboys.   I know I know, but when using it I like a nice aroma !

Off i go then,  Snow foam the car, give it a good clean and dry without using any QD.

Firstly the applicator pads supplied are already damp.  I like that, Makes application alot easier.

HD certainly goes on well, not tough to apply like some of the 'Boutique' harder waxes I've applied in the past.

Instructions claim 10-15 minutes before removal so I pack up the jet wash etc and keep my fingers crossed it isnt going to rain in the mean time!! :)

Removal...

Using the supplied red cloth i start to remove the HD panel by panel.

Seems very easy to remove, Its a cooler day so its not baked on.   On a couple of sections the wax had dried hard however there was no hard pressure needed, Its still came off with relative ease... Impressive!

Anyway the money shots:

Its a really really dull overcast day and it's about to rain however the deep shine is still apparent!

Is it any better than Aquawax?   Well the shine i feel MAY be a little deeper and glossier but there's certainly not much in it. The HD wax should however outlast the Aquawax by a long way.

Would i buy it again?  Yes!

My routine will continue to use Aquawax every wash to maintain a glossy finish however before shows or every other month i'll certainly be using the HD wax as a long term protectant.

I'll report back as to how long it lasts and how it beads when it inevitably rains later today!

What does the snow foam actually do ? Does it take old waxes off ?

I bought the same HD Wax last week but haven't used it yet. It was 44 quid from Halfords, robbing......

Vito, Snow foam, applied from a pressure washer using a snow lance, coats the car in foam, which loosens the dirt and grime ready for a pressure wash down before a bucket wash.

Its more of a pre wash. The last thing it should do is remove wax, but unfortunately some extra strong ones, or acid based ones  may do. Use a PH Nuetral foam to avoid this.

As above, get the ph neutral one as the one I have does strip the wax unless used heavily diluted.

MacD - Have you ever tried Clearkote Red Moose Machine Glaze??

An old one but still very good and I swear by it esp on red cars, so wet and glossy as a glaze then wax.

Car looks mint BTW. :-)
