I have 3 x cars with Admiral, mainly because my RS3 is stage 1 mapped and not many others will cover it.
My wife works in insurance herself and so I asked her to contact you to see what you would quote and how it would compare.
By the way Admiral beat anything she can get from the bigger insurers even with her staff discount.
I was suprised to hear what she found out.
The lady that she spoke to was more concerned about getting hold of the quote from Admiral so she could beat it.
My wife wouldnt give it and instead said give us your best deal.
After a lot of pressing the lady gave a quote but was keen to point out this could be beaten once we gave them a competitive quote to work against.
The wife also said that the lady didn't want to give a breakdown of costs, something that the FCA say you have to do in being open and honest with your quotes?
Is this the way you do business?

Now however having to send further screenshots for them to justify any price reduction !
Talk about long winded
Think I'll switch to Aviva

We need to see more than just a price on a screen - it has to also show the vehicle being quoted and the excess at least. Thanks for sending these over. Emma will be in touch shortly.

But what is the point of matching it - wouldn't you want some financial incentive to move away from the quote you already have?

At the end of the day I'm saving.

Saved hassle of moving to Aviva, a company that I don't particularly like dealing with.
However I can go with them if you don't want the business ? Refund me then

Also don't forget you'll be getting the RS 3 on renewal too
And you'd have the van as well but couldn't match my existing
Plus the people I've personally recommended you too.

Admiral gave me a good deal including adding a third car.
Their excess was nothing silly like the wife got quoted and we've got protected bonus.
If there's little or no saving it's just not worth the hassle of changing.

I agree totally, there needs to be a reasonably substantial saving to justify all the hassle of switching - plus you know that your original quote was freely offered and as such is likely to be maintained year on year, whereas the quote which simply matches your original will probably jump in year 2 to the level they would ideally have wanted in year 1

He is already with us so there's no switching to be done. The quote was matched to save him the hassle of moving and retain the business. There shouldn't be much of a rate hike at renewal as we try to keep things fairly consistent. Having said that, if the rest of the market increases their rates the insurer may want to his premium to move up also.
