Therein john for me, lies Audi's Achilles heel.........

Dealerships that don't know how to fix problems, acknowledge unusual noises or be on the same wavelength as the cars owner.

They also seem to have a strange dislike of securing engine under trays after taking them off.........
I didn't think the screwdriver / socket wrench was that hard to master

Interesting to see Jag and Bmw down there!

Do Porsche not feature? Heard nothing but good things about their dealer network and reliability.

Wow Mercedes have jumped up the order in recent times. I remember a few years ago they were right down the bottom. I have several friends/colleagues with BMW's who have had many issues with electrics and interior trim, so their similar position to Audi is not a surprise for me.

The surprise for me is JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) as according to the motoring press, they are the best, most reliable cars ever made! Go figure!

Also no Lexus? They are usually top of the pile. Plus Kia and Hyundai are virtually the same company, share floor pans etc. Surprising difference or just Kia owners will accept less???

Like you say Ozmosis you have to wonder though,

I mean Kia customers buying a brand new car at 5k will probably expect problems but won't be too arsed as they'll be fixed free under some 20 year free warranty scheme and will just be happy the cheap brand new car is being fixed free not causing any harm to polar bears or their vegetarian sandwich.

On the other hand someone buying a prestige Bmw or Audi gets one minor issue involving state of the art laser guidance technology and goes hell for leather demanding it's fixed plus compensation and a better model courtesy car while ranting and raving on social media that they wouldn't expect this from a prestige model costing X amount and it's the last of the brand they'll buy...... Until the end of the Pcp anyway.

Food for thought anyway.

(Ps toungue in cheek)

Also there are many different versions of this survey, a quick search on Goggles showed me Auto Express, What Car and Autocar have their own versions. Top Gear too. Plus then the US ones. So to get a true picture is difficult.

Plus of course, it all depends how many owners actually took part. As you rightly say, 'prestige' mark owners are far more likely to share their opinions. There is nothing to say that each manufacturer had the same number of models surveyed, which would automatically scew the percentages. Buy that works both ways too of course. I mean look at Alfa Romeo, right down at the bottom but they only make two models!

And let's not forget, 99% of Chevrolets are rebadged Daewoos...
