So a bit of confusion reigns regarding servicing RS3's. My supplying dealer advised RS3's should be serviced every 10k miles or 12 months. However as my car is currently in having its brakes fixed and I am at 9200 miles I thought I should get the service done at the same time. Referring to my service schedule however it says 30km or 2 years which is standard Audi AVS.

Asking Audi this morning they have two differing accounts much like I have. So which is it?

I was informed it was 2yrs when I asked.

Although I might opt for an oil change at 12 months

Audi have just rang to advise the same thing. I know modern oils are good but there is a bit of me that thinks the car would do better for an oil change before 17k miles.

Bit less on maintenance and more into the modifying pot!

I've not the inclination to mess about getting covered in oil so no doubt i'll pop down to Unit 20 and let Grizz sort mine.

I'll obviously be using Audi for the stamped service.

Change the engine oil EVERY 12-months!

Bluey was done at 12-months and 3200 miles, and will be done next at 24-months and whatever miles...   :blue:

Engine oil carries all of the by-pass contaminants so please change the engine oil regularly

And the sump plug is easy access so it's definitely a do-it-yourself job.

As it is known that the ***-Engines with chains instead of belts for the cam shaft (e.g. 3.2 FSI and 2.5 TFSI) could have more often a engine brake down when running with oil exchanged just every 30tkm/24m, I would suggest to everybody to exchange at least the oil and filter every 15tkm/12m.

3.2 FSI drivers in Germany found the problem of the massive engine brake down. They proved that the oil quality after 20tkm to 30tkm is too low for lubrication of the chain. The consequence was that the chain had too much friction and warmed up, which resultet in the fact that it was getting too long and the timing of the cam shaft chaged and the valve crushed with the pistons.

All infos about the chain problem with the A3 3.2 can be found here (in German)

Hmmm

So even the Long Life engine oil they use has a break down point,  I'll be changing it at 12months or 12k which ever happens first.

It'll be the 12 months i'd think though as i've done just 4k since new at September.

Had my oil change done FOC by Coulsdon Audi @ circa 11k miles. Reckon I'm probably clocking up about 10-15k miles a year so this will be an annual service for me.
