Tell me if this has been done already!!

Another forum I'm a member of has a warranty survey which had been going for some time and covers a multitude of sins for that car. I appreciate the "faults" on the RS are fairly well known, some to the cost of Audi, but would it be useful in the longer term to put such a scheme together so that we don't re-invent the wheel occasionally? This is pasted from the other forum :

Passenger door handle faulty      1000                   Yes                  Yes, new fitted
Driver door handle faulty                  0                   Yes                  Yes
Drivers Door membrane failure       27,000                 Yes                  Yes    New membranes fitted
Driver window problem                9000                Yes                    Yes
Drivers window/door module       24000               Yes                     Yes
Passenger window motor ---- ----------- -----------------
Drivers window motor                24000 Yes Yes New motor fitted
Drivers window glass 25000 Yes Yes - manufacturer's bulletin
Passenger door extreme buzz           0                    Yes                  Yes
N/S door pillar rattle                  18000                  Yes                  Yes
Rattle from rear window             4700                    Yes                  Yes - adjusted
Driver A pillar rattle                   9000                    Yes                   Yes

Interior alarm sensor failure         5000                    Yes                  Yes
Interior alarm sensor failure         15000                  Yes                  Yes
Alarm Fault, Siren                            0                     Yes                  Yes

Auto-lock unconfigurable                 0                    Yes                  Yes
Car unlocking itself                           0                      -                        -
Remote keyfob replaced              36000                 Yes ex             Yes
Chronometer vibration                6000                    Yes                  Y

If it was useful then we could simply ask owners to drop their problem in to the thread and edit the survey front page occasionally to keep up.

Sorry - first column is "Fault", second is "Mileage", third is "Warranty", fourth is "Claim (Accepted).

Obviously clever people could tweak this to suit our requirements.

The survey in question has well in excess of 100 lines, and is for a high performance car with a reputation for stellar reliability.

(It's the one with the engine hanging out the back. Gone but not forgotten!)

I would think in our case such data could be quite useful.

If it does nothing other than answer the weekly, "Thinking of buying an RS3, what should I look out for " posts, then it's worth while!

But I think it's useful as a reference point when something goes wrong and you're preparing for the typical response from Audi of "Haven't seen that before", (I'm looking in your direction, Fletch).

They had a similar thing on the MGF forum, (specifically related to head gasket failures). Came in handy when the dealer claimed he'd never heard of a head gasket failing on an MGF. I furnished him with a printout of 100-odd cars that had this problem, some that had been repaired at that very dealership. Saved me about an hour of having to cut through dealer bullshit I reckon.

If you pm me the originating forum or link I'll take a look and see how it'll transfer over.

I think if it works then it could be a good idea.
