Correct John,,
Another Bacon sarnie for you !
But its a 66, 67 models have a Maroon over gold tank,Triumphs have a different colour tank for every year.
This model Triumph was never sold here in England,
Johnson Motors in the USA wanted a bike to compete in the flat track races over there so they were specially made for them and shipped them over, they have high compression pistons, different gearbox ,smaller tank, etc
Evel Knievel used this bike for the first two years of his stunt work and did his famous first stunt over the hotel fountains on one....
Steve Mcqueen used one when he represented the USA in the International 6 day trials in Germany in '64 I think it was...
Plus he also used one in the "Great escape" but it was disguised as a BMW as obviously the Germans didn't ride Triumphs during the war!
(A bit of movie trivia for you,,,,,,,,,,, Steve Mcqueen actually "chased himself" in the motor bike scene as he was such an accomplished rider they filmed him as Virgil Hiltz then he changed into a German uniform and they film him again dressed as the German rider!!!)
But it was not Mcqueen who jumped the fence they would not allow him to incase he hurt himself !!!

It's got more holes than your string vest.
Had it sandblasted back to steel, had the holes brazed but unfortunately that's warped the steel a bit. Needs filler now to smooth out the warping.
I also got the stuff for sealing the inside of the tank, which stops any further corrosion. Got this to do yet.
Oh the joy of owning a 32 year old bike.
Still lots more to do

The amount of kit just seemed to go on and on my mate and I were well impressed
Found a good coating company that will treat turbo casing and exhaust manifold to reduce engine bay heat....and make them a cool colour !!
