Thanks for the info Keith. Will keep original-alloys in mind for next time.

Just so you know I had trouble with MPS4s staggered on mine. Traction control light coming on randomly in town driving (no harsh acceleration) and terrible tramlining which made the car feel like it was in a horrific crosswind. I ended up binning the 255s on the front and replaced with 235's and the problem disappeared.

Really hope you don't have the same issue mate.

Hi

Only had the car a few weeks and it is on pzeros so will try the staggered set up and get tracking done by some experts that even put weights in the car to simulate the passenger tolerances.

Had the square set up in the past in the sportback pfl, will give feedback once fitted.

Regarding the tyre suppliers by the way which I have no affiliation with, was spot on with delivery, just in time for the wheel refurbishment place for a set of newly cut blade alloys.

Regards

Keith

Hi

The most important thing is tyre pressures and tracking, with the staggered set up for myself using the 255s at the moment has been no issues but I don’t Hoon it about so that might be a factor.
I realise there is more road noise and comfort sacrificed due to the 30 profile set up. Could only give a balance view if I had driven a square set up. Maybe next time that will be on the cards, a square set up and see what happens.

Blackcircles started to cancel orders a while back due to the issue of the traction control being overtly sensitive with the 255 up front. You might be lucky and they might have changed something in the tyre design since.

Blackcircles started to cancel orders a while back due to the issue of the traction control being overtly sensitive with the 255 up front. You might be lucky and they might have changed something in the tyre design since.

This has been discussed before, it comes down to simple maths  :D A standard 255/30 is too big for the front of the RS3 and exceeds the front to back rolling radius ratio laid down by Audi, You can get the same issue with new fronts and worn rears even with the correct tyres. That is why they have tread depth limits in the tech manual.

It is why the RO2 Pirelli is undersize to match the 235/35 rear, I had one next to a standard 255/30 (non-RO2) Pirelli and the difference is significant.

Unfortunately the 255/30 PS4S is a couple of mm larger than the norm, which on just about every other car is no issue, however it makes a tyre that is already too big even bigger.

I think some later cars are less sensitive (as I said you could get the issue with correct tyres) some say they had a software update that helped.

Mine is running on a square set of 245/35 PS4S on oem 8" rims all round and very happy it is on them too.  :D
