I know there are lots of opinions on this but I would like to know what the views are for the best DSG maps for stage 3 cars. TVS seems to have a good rep and is available at various tuners including Awesome GTI.

Is the TVS option any different at different tuners and do they just load the set file or play about with settings themselves?

I know MRC do DSG tunes and I wondered if they do TVS or just their own?

AFAIK lots of places don't do TCU tuning because the TVS map is going to be hard to beat and a lot of development work for no real benefit. TCU tuning is complicated to get right so I can see why.

I have read of some tuning places that do TCU tunes putting an 'offset' in the outputs so it only works with their ECU tune. Having to shift manually above 3rd was a manifestation of that. I think that was the problem with the Eventuri RS3 on the drag video.

I don't think I have read of TVS being accused of that and it seems to run well with a lot of different ECU tunes

At this point in time TVS would be what I would use and AKS Alex is an authorised dealer for TVS, he would know what they do with it  :up_it:

TVS stage 2+ here and very happy with it.

Speak to Charlie at Peron as they are the main supplying Uk dealer for it.
They will customise it too I’m told.

TVS looks good but I just read stage 3 is 800nm and stage 4 1000nm. If I’m already getting 780nm at 516hp I’m certainly going to need a stage 4 map but it states it’s mandatory to buy their race clutch at £2500 + installation which seriously bumps the price up to about £4K

It all depends on what power levels you will be happy with going forwards.

Personally from what I read of TVS if they say 800nm is good with their stage 3 clamping pressures I would be happy putting 800 through it. If they say you need better clutch packs over that then I would tend to believe them.

You need to speak to whoever you are looking to get to map the car, it may be easier (and more sensible) to just limit the engine map to 800nm for the couple of places it happens. You are only affecting the peak, not the bit that matters under the graph.

A lot depends on what you want the car to do, do you want it there for the occasional blast or do you want to thrash it day in day out?  If you gave the same torque through the standard clutch packs to two people one would make it last years the other wouldn't last the week. Depends on how it is driven.

I’m certainly not the sort of driver to thrash it all the time but did want fairly decent power after spending out on. Fully built engine and Wavetrack. Luckily I have just spoke to Regal and they are a TVS dealer. They are going to speak to Peron today with a bit of look.

Hi

what people fail to understand is that the DSG needs to be custom tuned, there is no flash file that will work perfectly on every setup. Some get away with it but most do not. every stg3 tune vehicle we do has to have the box adjusted accordingly. its a fine line with the clamping pressures and smooth changes. To keep both in an ideal world you would need uprated clutches if you wanted off the shelve tune.

Ben

I totally get that and the reason TVS can offer a set tune as far as features but will liaise with the tuner for data logs before and after. I agree on the clutch pack and have gone for their race clutch.

Are you offering specific features on your DSG tunes for FL stage 3 cars Ben? What clutches are you currently using for the FLs?

Said gearbox been flashed to match/mate the additional power. They've uprated numerous RS3's + owner & chief mechanic have their own personal RS3's so they're familiar, but something isn't right. Think I'm just unlucky inasmuch that perhaps previous owner had abused excessive launches & the recent stage 3 has hit its weak point Worth a 2nd opinion though
