I have seen you can buy complete vent replacements with the red trim and you can buy various coloured inners rings. I’d go for the inner rings but I won’t be able to fit them on the one that is having the P3 gauge.
I have the alloy surrounds on mine which I’d like to keep so I’m wondering if you can by the coloured outer rings or could I get them off somehow so I could spray them?

They are nice Jay but I only need the actual red trim part so for me it’s expensive if I don’t need the whole vent.

the aftermarket alternatives protrude and are not flush like the oem ones. All comes down to personal preference I guess

I haven’t tried to take the ring off yet so wondered if that can be done and if anyone has had a go?

I’ll bite , how much... seeing as I have a Misano RS , do these retrofit into the 8P , and if they do fit properly, is there any downsides...

Got them up for £320 delivered but happy to come down a tad. £280 delivered is bottom line really.

Yes they retrofit into the 8P. Couple of methods to do it both with for and against....

1 - to keep the vent fully operational (eg open/close air paddle on the rear) you can trim the inner membrane of the dash. This means no modification to the vent is required and is fully operational, however means that a standard 8P vent would not go back into the slot as the hole would be too large.

2 - trim the corrugated grippers on the outer edge of the vent until it fits within the dash. Means the outer ring of the vent cannot be turned to close the air flow however it means the dash is left in tact. (To be honest I don’t know why you’d want to close the vent tbh as it’s always good to have a constant air flow within the cabin).

See attached images pinched from my mate Jays car. He opted for option 1 trimming inside membrane. There’s videos on YouTube of this method. Easy job.

The ducts need extending too as the vent is slightly shorter in length compared to the 8P but this can be easily done.

personally I think they look too aftermarket, it’s almost as though you need to find some that has that small tab as well as that seems to make them look more oem. The colour needs changing too. Plus they are covers that stick on

That’s a shame. Does the outer black ring come off on yours Jay?

I’m on about the actual bit you turn which is metal on mine.

Thanks for the reply.  I thought there might be some pros and cons onto the 8p.

Having moved, I’m heavily into diy projects and fitting out the garage at the minute so it’s something that can wait.

if I wasn’t selling these I would let you know but I’m not pulling these apart. From experience with other model vents it’s been hit & miss as they seem to differ ever so slightly for different vents

After fitting the P3 I decided to get some trims to add a bit of colour to my vents. These cost £8.99 from eBay and are proper anodised metal trims:
