Hi guys was wondering if anyone had driven the north coast 500 on a stage 2 mapped car, and if so how did you get on with 99ron fuel? Inverness has vpower so a fill up at the start will get 2/3 of the way round.... did you use an octane booster and if so which one and how much do you need???

Many thanks in advance
Nick

Friends and I Used to run a popular off the shelf octane booster years ago on modified S3, S4, RS4’s etc.  A lot of us were running switchable/ adjustable maps with adjustable boost and timing modes, but I admit, not necessarily specifically mapped for it.

But when it was rumoured to be linked to some spark plug tip failures taking out engines , we instantly stopped using it as a precaution.

back then a bottle ( about the same size as a can of Coke) was noticeable on 60l of fuel. I wouldn’t recommend it though.

Hi Paul it’s just to get the 95 Ron standard fuel upto 99ron that the car needs to run on.

Ah,

we were getting greedy, using it on 99 v power or momentum.

I know of one guy who ran his on a mix of Toululine , nasty stuff it’s a cancer causing paint thinners in basic form, , but also illegal because it’s not taxed for road use.  ( bit like red diesel)

Sounds like it was proper fun! I’m just looking for something off the shelf so I don’t bugger the map up. I’d found this on the web which seems to take 95 Ron upto 102 so will be about 99 on a full tank.

I used that very OB earlier this year.

Half a can into a full tank makes a noticeable difference.

Thanks T-800 so is my understanding of the spec correct 1 full bottle would take 40 litres of 95 Ron and make it 102 Ron?

Worth checking opening times of petrol station as a precaution i had planned to fill up at Thurso only garage closed at 6pm. Do the drive anti clockwise up the east coast down the west the west is so much better.

Are there any dangers of using this day to day on a car? I've never used an OB before but always been curious!

Well that looks pretty interesting

Is there any risk putting it in a tank then not putting it in the next tank? I'm running a revo stage 1 with most hardware for stage 2 but not mapped in yet, im wondering if its worth starting to use some OB just to help stabilise the fuel mixture a bit more once I've done stage 2? I always use 99RON v power too
