Is it possible to have a DSG map on the FL 8v I went out for a little play with my mate in his stage 2 Golf R power wise we are nearly on par ( I’m completely stock ) but he seemed to have better gear changes and defo.
Arguably he’s producing better torque figures from his tuned Golf but I didn’t like that initial jump he got on me due to more responsive gear changes

You don’t need a DSG map on a stock car... better off trying the TVS product as suggested in the above posts.
I would recommend the upper 034 Motorsport dogbone insert combined with the APR stainless lower dogbone insert. Makes the changes more precise and eliminates all the drivetrain slop under acceleration and heavy breaking.

Ant let us know who you’re going to use for the TVS map as the PFL 8V so needs something like this! It’s the only thing on the car that isn’t 100% to our liking since purchase.

It’s trying to find somewhere the two tuners closest to me that I’d trust are VRS and MRC I need to give them a tap up see if this something they could do but I’m currently making a big shopping list on AwesomeGTI 🙈 due to Brian’s recommendations

CLP charge £430 but based in Sheffield - might just go there actually.

Hi

If your not happy with how the stock box acts, how on earth is any other tuner in the world going to do a better job then Audi?
If you think something is not quite right then maybe the box has an issue or it needs a reset.

Just having a DSG tune is a massive waste of money unless your going to be running over 700nm on 8v models. Gearbox only really needs a tweak on stage 2+ cars due to clamping force and cooling.

The 8p and 8j is the only model that needs the box touching on stage 1 stuff.

I think I’m gonna try it Neil, mines going to CLP for its second Service soon, if what you say is correct it will be worth a punt.

You have more faith in Audi software prowess than I do... This is the company that can't make a stereo that has gapless playback on a 2016 car...

I've never been impressed with the DQ500 box in mine, it's inconsistent, sometimes clunky and hesitant. This is after Audi fully checked and software reset it (it was genuinely bad prior).
Sometimes smooth and quick and others indecisive, slow and clumsy.
It's definitely better in the FL cars, and AFAIK it's only software changes, so clearly it can be improved.

I'm very interested in it, as in my opinion is one of the only real annoyances of the car.

I 100% agree with you there.

My PFL was terrible even after several resets / adaptations at Audi.

The FL box is better but I’m all for something that can add improvement.

Dont forget that when Audi calibrate the DSG gearbox they have lots of emissions limits to comply with, the end result is a product that is a compromise. All the companies that sell remaps don't have to meet any emissions regulations, so their calibrations will always feel better than Audi.

In what way? Was your ECU stock?

I have our own TCU tune on and more then happy with how it complements our ECU tune.

Folks with bad gear changes and inconsistencies sounds more a fault with your mechtronics not software.

Also DSG software has no bearing on emission law, as manual boxes wouldn't be fitted to them.

Firstly round town at low throttle and speed in "D" it doesn`t change into 2nd at 2 mph and then slip the clutch until
about 10 mph. It won`t change 1st to 2nd until about 10 mph.Much better.Likewise slowing down at crawling pace it will
change down to 1st so smoothly you don`t know about it. It also keeps the revs higher before changing up.Mine used to
go into 6th at 36 mph.Basically in "D" it keeps it one gear lower .
In "S" it doesn`t rev the nuts off the engine unnecessarily .
It is hard to describe but you need to try it to fully appreciate the differences.
