Evening all,

Had my eye on an 8P RS3 for a little while now. Currently run a B5 RS4 as a daily but the miles are creeping up on it (155k) and I’m wanting to make the switch to something newer for a daily - besides I already have a toy car in the garage in the shape of a series 1 MK1 golf 😉 and it’s been neglected of late due to all the work I’ve been doing on the B5!

I’ve seen a couple of nice ones, unfortunately the one I had my eye on has now been sold 😭😭 I’ve recently secured the sale of my B5 which is a little bit gutting as I’ve had it for 4 years and it’s a great car, just time for someone else to give it a break from the daily grind and give it a full resto!

Is there anything i should be looking out for when buying? I’ve been to look at a couple but nothing too serious as I wanted to touch base on here first

Cheers people

Hi and welcome,

There's a ton of good knowledge on here and the folks are very supportive. I am in the same position as yourself on the lookout for the right car, have missed out on a couple so far much due to having a sensible other half who likes to wait until we accrue the capital before making substantial purchases.

I'm sure the people with 8P RS3's will follow up with a lot of great advice so best of luck with your journey.

Haha cheers, my other half couldn’t give a monkeys! She knows that cars are my thing so let’s me get on with it thankfully! Yeah hopefully so, I’ve missed out on a couple due to problems with my B5 that I had to sort out before sale.....last job to do tomorrow then it’s off to its new home I like to think it was telling me not to sell haha!
Hopefully going to see a low mile 8P in the next coming week, just waiting on some pics from the dealer first before I make the choice to go see it as it is in Nottingham which is quite a trek for me!
Best of luck finding yours too

Well I’ve taken the plunge and bought a 61 plate red 8P RS3, it’s got the silver accents on the bumpers and door handles and stuff. 41k miles and FASH, nice car it drives lovely, came with all new front and rear discs/pads too as they were shot! (Score) oh and it has the all important buckets which are hardly worn! Although I can see why they do get worn as you pretty much have to climb out!!

I’m enjoying the feeling of a modern car and the DSG is pretty good even though I still try and put my foot on it as if it was a clutch! Even managed 32mpg on a run yesterday - which I know isn’t really important in a car like this, but just thought it was amazing considering what I was used to with the B5 RS4

Anyways, it’s just staying standard for the moment, well apart from removing the front plate.....I did that when I got home haha! I’m gonna keep a close eye on things over the next couple of months as it has a bit of a warranty so would like to get things done if it needs it!

Here it is:

Here’s a few more pictures after a few months of ownership.....have fitted an updated pioneer CarPlay headunit and will be going in for some sound and security upgrades in the next couple of months or so! Currently looking at some new wheels and keeping the rotors for winter

Agreed.

Car is to be driven, not a garage queen.
