Hello, I've just purchased my 2012 RS3 and very happy with it after owning M3's for many years. Initially, it's definitely not as technical as the M3 but quite honestly that for me is a good thing!

I do however have a problem with the SD card reader. While the SD card is acknowledged by the MMI system as being in the slot provided, it won't highlight the icon and therefore I can't open it to play any of my music I've downloaded.

The card is a 4GB SDHC. Is this the right card?

Help, please!!!

Thanks, Graham.

Hi Graham

I’m pretty sure the RNS-e only supports up to 2GB SD cards.

Don’t think SDHC are able to be used.

By the way, looking at the owners manual it says the system will take SD, SDHC & MMC memory cards. Can you clarify please?

You need to check there being uploaded as mp3 file not ITunes or it won't play ☹

But what’s the limit 2GB or 4GB ?

If 4GB then how has the card been formatted ?

I'm using a 8gb SDHC card formatted FAT32 using MP3 music not problems 😊

As Dell says you must have them formatted incorrectly or the music format isn't being recognised

Sorry to say there seems to be a problem with my attachments or the RS3OC site 🤔

My uploads are there before posting but once done the attachments don't open ☹

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know, it's not the SD card that was the problem with the type i.e SDHC or SD or the gigabyte size;  it was the formatting. Once I'd re-formatted all my music into MP3 / 4 from i-tunes the audio system accepted and loaded it up no problem. A lesson learnt and thanks for the help.

Graham.

Reformat using a laptop or home computer by using the SD slot & looking for SD card.

Right click on card/drive then select reformat & in the drop down box your see FAT32 & a tick in fast format,at the bottom click format & away you go mate 😊

If the above doesn't work then use SD Card Formatter - See https://sd-card-form...own.com/windows
