Yeah something odd about the standard run chart. Power is shown as still climbing at 6400rpm but is abruptly cutoff. I don't know what the rev limit is on the FL car but it was 6800rpm on the PFL. Power would usually tail off well before that though.

How does a v box work exactly?.... how would it show top end difference for example.... I thought it was just a timing device?

Use it to time the acceleration of the car to specific speed markers, usually 0-60 or 0-100mph and some in-gear acceleration comparisons. You could run the car in stock power and then strap on the tuning box and do some more runs to see the difference in performance. It takes away all the 'smoke & mirrors' of whether the dyno quoted power was good/bad or whatever.

Or....

Dyno runs Vanity.....

Vbox runs Sanity.....

Impressive indeed. More than enough power for U.K. roads.

But how would I measure top end?.... I’ve seen some tuning boxes give a jump in power and torque in the mid range and then seem to revert back to stock power at the top end...... the v box couldn’t show if that was happening could it?

I did a take on my stock dyno against the stock one on the pics and the figures at every 1000 rpm are pretty close

Guys I’m guess the box sits in between the sensors and the ecu in order to trick it to fuel/boost/time etc. differently? I had s tuning box on a Vauxhall Astra CDTI van years ago and it was faster, whilst being undetectable after removal.

My concern is what sensor inputs are used in order to write the program. I read APR state Audi have several extra sensors which they remove once they have perfected the tuning. APR have found out what these sensors are and have fitted them to their test car whilst writing the programs. They have spent months so far on testing the new engine and I wonder how box tuners can do this when they often supply for hundreds of different cars?

I’m not saying the boxes are good or bad and just trying to understand a bit mire about them.
