So a couple of things to boil my blood!

Cleaning the car a few days ago and discovered what happens when the clear coat fails.

Then today checking tyres found the inside shoulders have been catching since lowering on the Bilstein B16's:

No idea on the paint David. I was just jet washing as usual and the 2* patches just exploded off the front offside wheel arch. Only saving grace is they're not metal wings so they wont rust at least until I get them sprayed.

I have been running around 640mm floor to arch on the front suspension. I suspect the rubbing happened during heavy braking but not sure what the tyres were catching on. I've raised the front another 5mm now but will have to see what happens when I get new tyres on as not sure if I need spacers as well. BTW i'm running 255 fronts on the stock et53 19" Rotors.

That’s really strange for your paint to come off like that. Gutted mate I feel for ya, I would not be happy. Ok I’m running mine about 645mm rear and the front is about 647mm but I have 235 front so that might be why then, hope you get it sorted soon mate, it like something has got underneath your paint and lifted it have no idea what Could have caused that,

I feel your pain duke! I just speant over £300 quid on two new tyres as both had been damaged by a nail!

less than a week later on my way to driving the car and to view the car with its potential new owner I got a flat from another nail!!! Anyway that was last week. I got it patched up and drove the car for to friend of mine to see it and he wants the car. They are picking up the car next sunday...

...But it dosnt end there, this morning I noticed another nail and the wheel was flat on one of the new tyres!! Cant beleive my luck, so tommorrow Im off to get it repaired hopefully. Buy seriously 4 nails in 2 weeks, thats .ore than I have had in my whole life! Weired thing is my wofe drives the RS3, we both work together so she drives it to the same place as me everyday but its only here that seems to collect nails!? Weird.

Hmmm not good, surprised the paint has done that!
As for the tyres you'd think to sustain that amount of wear through rubbing you'd have noticed it through feeling and noise? Have you located the point of contact and confident it's that rather an alignment issue which has caused the wear and potential de-lamination of the tyre?

Bad luck Sawda. My tyres are self inflicted damage 😫

After I did the Bilstein install I did notice a change in sound under heavy braking but put this down to extra transmitted noise through the 034 top mounts. I now suspect this was the tyres catching the inside of the arch. Either that or it’s happening on full lock. From the shape of the wear I have discounted that the tyre is hitting the strut. It’s definately arch wear 😫

Ok fair one and I guess as it's a wider OEM alloy/tyre setup you wouldn't have expected any issue!

I know you didn't do many miles on them but what were you thoughts of the Conti SC6? Do they still have that slightly stretched look to them compared to the MPSS for example? They seem to have good reviews..

Mpss are better imo. Contis are pretty good though, better than the 5p but in all honesty cant tell the difference day to day. Also mpss are on the m2 and not a fair comparison. I wemt for contis as they were already on the car and my froend worked for conti so discounted.

When comparing to sc5 the sc6 seems to be alot less tyre roar

Found a nail in the front of one of my tyres the other day. Took it to my local Audi specialist to have it repaired & they were a bit wary of doing it due to the foam liner in the tyre?. Factory fitted Pirelli p zero apparently it's there to stop rim damage if tyre goes completely flat.

Just the paint to sort. Can anyone recommend a decent sprayer in the Reading/ Bracknell area. I want to get the whole front end done to get rid of all the stone chips

Ok just a suggestion, you could try Harding up the front a notch to 5 to stop the front rubbing ? 6 might be a bit soft? Could give it a try to see if it saves knackering a nice new set of tyres ! Good thing is you can play around with the settings on the B16s to get it right for your ride height,
