Looking on the net the other day & noticed a '' left hand drive'' RS3 8v had the red section of the rev counter light up & do a sweep of the dial along with the rev counter needle.

Can this be set to work on UK spec cars please & if so any one have the link in the VCDS settings?.

It can be enabled (i did it on mine) but it brings on the ACC light on the dash and that bugged me so i turned it off again.

If you go into instruments and long coding then tick the ACC box it enables the Adaptive cruise........however because there is no adaptive cruise you get the 2 red car symbols in the rev counter staying on

Thanks Sean. I could live with the 2 red symbols in the rev counter but not the ACC light on. Do you just go into VCDS & instruments & tick the ACC & then get the ''red'' sweep?.

Do you have a link to what this looks like?

Can the two red car symbols not be coded out?

Renga.........

The RS3 has needle sweep from the factory.......It's a standard feature on S/RS cars.

James unfortunately not.....

When the cluster is coded for ACC it activates the outer LED ring around the Rev counter.....

However it is then trying to communicate with the FR/Assist module (5C if memory serves) but because it's not there if not specced that causes the error lights in the cluster, because it thinks something is amiss.

............just to confirm is it just x2 sections of the red outer "sweep'' that stay on or is it x2 symbols in the actual rev counter. Think I could live with just 2 small sections of the ''sweep '' showing but not 2 actual lights in the dash.

Europe versions of the RS3 have ACC and radar etc so it's coded in from factory, as above its possible to activate the (frankly awesome) red sweep but because the car doesn't have the system it's hunting for a signal that'll never exist shame really as it genuinely does look awesome IMG_2025.PNG

Next question is though how accessible are the light diodes in the clocks? Could the bulbs be removed for the warnings? Or is it all one circuit board..

What does the outer red ring actually do? How does it work in function? Or is it simply just a needle sweep? It must do something? Is it a meter of something?

It's for Adaptive Cruise, it shows your selected cruise speed I think
