this doesn't mean VAG will continually improve their detection method (whatever that may be), but today, almost 6000miles fitted, not detected.

Though they did highlight there were several coding errors which I told them beforehand were my VCDS coding adjustments, hence their comment after tuning not detected - NO coding's or calibration parameters have been changed.

I can't honestly give you an answer, only from my own result, but DTUK use a very different way of connecting to the engine from MTM.

MTM piggy backs the ECU (i.e. you connect the engine harness to the MTM loom, then the MTM loom to the ECU) and that's it. DTUK doesn't go near the ECU but plugs into several engine sensors, so who knows unless someone does exactly what I have done?

The DTUK doesn't have any control over fuelling.

The lambda is manipulated into adding the fuel because exhaust temps are increased because the box is increasing the boost.

Interesting chat this one. I think I am definately going to stick with my plan to go straight to ABT with the warranty when I collect in 2-3 weeks, although it is pricy 5 k€. 430 hp and 530 Nm is enough for me, and they have the 450 hp version in the pipeline.

The 450ps model is available now. I went out in one in Kempten, Germany a could of weeks ago when over at the ABT factory. It is damn fast, although not as fast as the RS6-R 735ps 120 Edition, that I went out in prior..........

The important element about all of this is not what a TB does differently to an ECU piggy back (I'm assuming the MTM solution is using something like the Dastek hardware?), but what actually triggers the TB1 flag.  It's suggested this is based on fuel trims exceeding a certain limit.

Somebody explain fuel trimming to me and how and where it will be logged? If its just A/F ratio etc and If the answer is its logged in the factory ECU - the MTM box will not be captured. It intercepts the ECU out and in signals! Thus will be logged as expected.

It's the freeze frame element, which is triggered when values seen exceed prescribed limits.

Ee-opening this thread did anyone get confirmation a DTUK box issues a traceable flag in this way?

We used to be a DTUK dealer, did quite a few on Transporters, but more recently and especially on the newer EU6 engine, they just kept bringing on management lights, regardless of settings.  We got very little help from DTUK on this, and now are no longer selling them!
