Hi all

Spent about 3 hours cleaning the car today - very enjoyable

Finished it off with Petes '53 by chemical guys.

My car is panther black so this stuff is perfect as ideal for dark and metallic cars.

It really is immense and being a hard carnaubu wax it is just apply and wipe off - -you dont need to let is sit for any time. Recommend it big time!!!!

Hot sunny day so used poorboys sealant beforehand - EX-P as you can use that is any heat/sunlight

wow the panther really is a stunning metallic/pearl effect, very purple in direct sunlight :)

Petes 53 has always had awesome reviews..
One thing though.. It's better off using the sealant after applying the wax!

I wouldn't say so, if your going to layer sealant/wax then it should be sealant first and wax last.

The synthetics in the sealer bond easier on direct/or as direct to the paint as possible.

In alot of cases the sealant will outlast the wax also.

My personal choice is one or the other, I wouldn't choose both a sealant and a wax but its personal preference.

Im with you on this, one or the other as they both do the same job so pointless using both.

yeah you may well be right...reality for me is that I love cleaning my car so sealant goes on to protect longer term and the wax is my fun top up - even if it doesnt do alot.... it makes me happy doing it haha :)  B)

Car is looking lovely! Black is certainly a fantastic colour when clean!

I've never use both either but just my opinion that I thought the purpose of sealant is to seal the paintwork so therefore applying it on top of wax seems more beneficial than the other way round.

Again I'm not saying I'm right here, and I'm sure someone will be along soon...

What ever you've done certainly works it looks stunning.

I've always used FK1000p on all my cars until the RS3 which had serum applied to it.

Looks great! A friend of mine had a S3 in panther and it really pops in the sun!

A sealant must always be applied prior to a wax otherwise it will not bond properly.
My usual routine is;
Pro polish (if any defects)
Glaze
Sealant
Concours wax

Granted the wax isn't necessarily needed but I have found it just gives even better depth/shine and increased durability.
I detailed my car a couple months ago and it still beads incredibly well after daily use/weekly washes!

agreed.... that pot of Petes '53 was £28 - similar quality wax's are £60 +

chemical guys is premium quality at a great price.

Poorboys stuff is great too and I love that fact you could apply it all in miami heatwave and it still buffs off easy, no effort :)
