We would like to introduce ourself to the forum. JF Automotive is an Engine & Gearbox software development company supplying software and hardware to the automotive industry, trade and retail.

JF Automotive's purpose built research and development centre, with dyno can manage all 2WD and 4WD vehicles up to 2000BHP. We are able to simulate real life road conditions to accurately measure engine power at the wheels before & after our tune including a multitude of parameter logging.

We have a new project on our hands and would like to share the news as it happens with you guys.

Our 2015 Audi RS3 Stock Dyno Results! 276WHP and 388Nm (Power at the wheels) - Very strong power at the wheels shows the new drivetrain is very efficient and actual power is around 375-380BHP and 500-510Nm Stock! Well done Audi

We will also working with one of the biggest intercooler company in the UK to build a more efficient intercooler over the next couple of weeks. This will help lower intake temperatures and make for a stronger tune top end.

The dyno graph below shows the power at the wheels (Where power is measured). Torque in Nm (Blue) on the left and BHP (Red) on the right. We data logged, turbo pressure requested and actual, inlet manifold temp, spark advance (timing), AFR, requested lambda, requested load in % and NM, throttle control, oil temp and more!

How do you calculate the number 276 rwhp becoming 375 - 380 hp in engine? It's like + 40%? Strange numbers but have only a little experience from motobikes and rear wheel cars and there you can add 8 to 15% on rwhp, right?

Hi there. You are getting the figure of 40% because you are adding that to the WHP figure. That is not how a flywheel estimate is estimated. Transmission loss is exactly that, it is power lost in the transmission. So what you need to do is minus the transmission loss from the bigger number (the flywheel figure).

We are estimating a 26% drivetrain loss on the RS3 which when running on our All Wheel Drive linked dyno is very low!

So the formula looks something like: 375-((375/100)*26)

Hope this makes sense

I'm afraid our RS3 is with Audi for some warranty issues,

As soon as the car returns we can carry on with development.

Anything that the forum may be interested in knowing - so we can also keep an eye out for them?

Could you expand on the gearbox clunking?

Also I assume it is the windscreen that is rattling, not the MMI screen?  (I think my MMI screen has a little rattle)
