Has anyone any thoughts about spacers? I know its a bit early yet but wheels with a wider fit and 1" drop have transformed my S5.

I have wheels and spacers on my 8V RS3 and it has totally changed the way it looks. I am sure even without seeing that a suitable choice on the saloon will also make it look nicer.

Cars are built to accept snow chains etc so there is always room to spare in the arches.

Also note the tyre choice. The Pirelli RO2 tyres have such a big rim protector it makes the tyre look stretched which further enhances the stance and look.

Thanks, when I finally get the car I will look at spacers. I'm guessing the wheel centres will be the same on the saloon as yours. What spacers are you running with?

Mounted 10mm spacers yesterday together with H&R extended wheel bolts with locks on my sportback.

I've got the 8.5J et53 front wheel and 8.0J et49 rear wheel.

Standard pirellis.

It looks spot on and is perfect inline with the wheel arch now.

Nice Kenny  ;)

I have looked up now from the Swedish Transport Agency (Driving and Transport) and it seems that Saloon has a different ET compared to the sportback.

As you wrote, Sportback has ET 49, and ET 53. While the Saloon has ET 42 and ET 46.

Has anyone tried wheel spacers on a saloon with standard rims yet?

Have you an original staggered or square set up and what size of spacers did you run with? Thanks.

Hi Wotmotorsport - Are your spacers one part with the spigot and centre locator built in?

They are hubcentric so a single piece spacer

What are people running, both sizes and brands.

I've got a staggered setup with the OEM pirellis.

Was thinking forge 11mm all round or 11m front and 13mm rear but then came across one forum thread where someone was running a forge spacer and it's snapped.

Now thinking about going for eibach pro spacers, I've got pro springs on route with a 10mm drop anyway. Would do 10 all round or 10 front and 12 rear.

Cheers

Personal thing but I would get the best spacers you can (like Eibach or H&R) and make sure they are hubcentric. Porsche used spacers from the factory so nothing wrong with good ones in the right place.

I don't really go for doomsaying about bearing wear because often OEM cars use a lower offset wheel giving the same forces as a spacer on the same bearing and suspension geometry with no real issue.

However they do put much greater shear forces on the studs or bolts which can result in them shearing or snapping. That is why it is not a thing to go cheap on, particularly the longer bolts.

It is why I prefer to use a wheel with a better offset.

Yeah I'm think there has to be something in the fact that H&R and Eibach are double the price beyond the name.
